Christmas Exhibition 2009
"I like to capture memories of those times of day when nature creates a wealth of magical colour....."
Suzanne Cannon
Suzanne Cannon is forging a burgeoning reputation in the gallery as a new and refreshingly original semi-representational landscape/seascape artist.
Her evocative landscapes, often typified by dramatic sweeping skies, attracted lots of attention by those who preferred an 'edge' to their art.
Water-colour artist Trevor Lingard displayed a wide variety of nostalgic and modern day subject matter in the 'Viewing Room'. His architectural and figurative scenes depicted a loose, fresh and bold impressionist style which reflectied scenes of mood and atmosphere.
Peter Worswick used the exhibition to launch his 'Figurative' work in oil, which were very well received, alongside a selection of his very successful acrylic and epoxy resin contemporary woodland scenes of birch trees and bluebell woods.

introduction to one of Europe's most
prolific and inimitable contemporary artists.

their book signed and have a chat
with Ross on the night.

"A brilliant Community Partnership is developing, enabling our children
to be able to visit the gallery, be inspired and learn from the artists."
Brian Beresford - Headmaster, Whalley CE Primary School.
Budding artists from Whalley Primary School saw their work hanging alongside famous names at a special exhibition. The event was the culmination of a four month art project which began with a visit to the gallery. The children did five minute sketches which were used as a starting point for their own artwork to develop in class focusing on pre-war industrial Lancashire.
Each of the 30 pupils produced one piece of artwork, in a variety of mediums, which were judged by well-known Lancashire artist John Thompson. To reward all the children for their hard work each entry was individually framed by Chris and then a special exhibition held so that parents and teachers could see the work hanging in a real gallery.
